The U.S. Department of Agriculture expects egg prices to increase by another 20% by the time the year is out. 

Some argue that Trump is simply using threats of injurious trade penalties in order to win smaller, different concessions. Others see a far more dramatic agenda at play.

The very conditions that allow U.S. egg farmers to pump out tens of billions of eggs a year are also what make flocks so susceptible to disease in the first place.
